Elisabeth Fuchs
Chefdirigentin der Philharmonie Salzburg

Elisabeth Fuchs studied conducting under Dennis Russell Davies at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, and in Köln under Michael Luig.

She founded the Philharmonie Salzburg (Salzburg Philharmonic Orchestra), at the time called “Junge Philharmonie Salzburg“, in 1998 and is its principal conductor today.

What differentiates Elisabeth Fuchs from others in her field is her ability and courage to take on extraordinary projects with uncompromising zeal. She is not afraid to tackle the most challenging works of musical history such as Franz Schmidt’s “Buch mit 7 Siegeln“, and cross-over projects, including one with a break-dancing crew.

One of Elisabeth Fuchs’ main passions is her artistic work for children and youth in Salzburg. In 1997 she founded the "Kinderfestspiele", an innovative concept that has evolved into a remarkable success story.

In addition, she serves as the artistic director for the Salzburg Cultural Association and conducts the Brucknerorchester Linz, the Stuttgarter Philharmoniker, the Tonkuenstlerorchester Niederoesterreich, and the Prague State Opera.
