Valentin Uryupin was born in 1985 in Lozovaya, Ukraine. He was educated at the Central Music School and studied conducting and clarinet at the Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in Moscow. He was a clarinetist and conductor, winning prizes in several competitions, including clarinet competitions in Belgium, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, China, Finland, Czech Republic, Russia and other countries, and has performed with various orchestras in Europe, China and Japan. He has been the artistic director and conductor of the Arpeggione Chamber Orchestra in Moscow since 2007. In addition, he was the guest conductor of the State Youth Orchestra in Kharkov between 2008 and 2011. He has also been a guest conductor of the Belarus Radio Symphony Orchestra since 2011 and was also the conductor of the Academy Opera and ballet in Perm.

He won the 3rd prize of prestigious Gustav Mahler conducting competition in Bamberg. In 2015 he won All-russian conducting competition in Moscow.

Since 2015 Valentin is Principal conductor and artistic director of Rostov-on-Don philharmonic orchestra. Also he keeps position of permanent conductor of Perm opera house (also MusicAeterna orchestra, which is also based there) and permanent guest conductor of Belorussian radio and TV orchestra in Minsk.

Also Valentin enjoys the active career of clarinet player, performing in Russia and abroad. He is a prize-winner of about 25 international clarinet competition, including most important few - Geneva, Munich, Gent, Beijing, Pretoria.

February 2017, he won the first prize at the 8th Conductor's Competition Sir Georg Solti in Frankfurt am Main. The award for the 31-year-old is endowed with 15,000. Uryupin is also the winner of the audience award.
